Dr. Elissa Geier is the co-founder of Lakeshore Psychology Group. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and has been in private practice since 1998. She has extensive experience working with adolescents, adults, couples and families. She earned her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology with a specialty in marriage and family therapy. Dr. Geier earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She completed her internship at Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex. Dr. Geier completed her post-doctoral training at Allendale Association/Bradley Counseling Center and in a private practice.

Nicole Gerber, Psy.D.

Dr. Nicole Gerber is the co-founder of Lakeshore Psychology Group. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and has been in private practice since 1998. She has extensive experience working with adolescents, adults, couples and families. Dr. Gerber received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology with a specialty in marriage and family therapy. Dr. Gerber earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Emory University where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa, with honors and distinction. She completed her diagnostic practicum at Family, Adolescent, Child Treatment Center. Dr. Gerber completed her therapy practicum at Catholic Charities: Holbrook Center. Her clinical internship training was at Family Care Network/Childhood Trauma Treatment Center/Christ Hospital. Dr. Gerber completed her post-doctoral University of Chicago Fellowship in Family Systems and Health Psychology at MacNeal Hospital and the Chicago Center for Family Health.

Martine Gorstein, Psy.D.

Dr. Martine Gorstein is a licensed clinical psychologist and has worked in the field of mental health since 1998. She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago. Dr. Gorstein earned her bachelorʼs degree in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She completed her psychological assessment training at Henry Horner Childrenʼs Center and therapy training at Forest Hospital Outpatient Clinical. Her clinical internship was completed at Bridgeview/Challenger Therapeutic Day School. Dr. Gorstein completed her post-doctoral training at Allendale Association/Bradley Counseling Center. Dr. Gorstein has additional experience in the field of trauma and provides supervision to licensed social workers in the areas of assessment and evaluations.

Alicia Arkin, Psy.D.

Dr. Alicia Arkin is a licensed clinical psychologist. She has experience working with adolescents and adults. Dr. Arkin has worked in a variety of settings in the mental health field. Most recently she worked at The Family Institute at Northwestern University, working with individual adults. Dr. Arkin earned her doctorate and master’s degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Northwestern University, where she graduated with honors. Dr. Arkin completed her doctoral internship with The Menta Group, and did her post-doctoral training at Maryville Academy. She completed her therapy practicum at Allendale Association/Bradley Counseling Center. Dr. Arkin also worked with Pacific Clinics Day Treatment Program in Los Angeles, California.

Mindy Waxman, Psy.D.

Dr. Mindy Waxman is a licensed clinical psychologist and has worked in the mental health field since 1996. She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Waxman received her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago, and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ohio State University. She completed her psychological assessment training at Cook County Hospital and therapy training programs at Ravenswood Hospital Outpatient Program and Perdue University Counseling and Guidance Center. Dr. Waxman’s clinical internship took place at Bridge View and Challenger Therapeutic Day Schools and her post-doctoral training was with Paula R. Markowitz, Psy.D. and Associates, a private practice located in Chicago. Dr. Waxman has had widespread experience in the field of trauma, grief and loss, depression, and anxiety. Additionally, she has provided supportive services to many of the schools within the north and northwest suburbs of Chicago, providing extensive crisis support and clinical training to school staff members as well as psychological support services for students.

Tom Alm, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Tom Alm is a licensed clinical psychologist who has worked in the field of mental health since 2006. He has extensive experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Dr. Alm earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from LaSalle University in Philadelphia with a specialty in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University. Dr. Alm completed his practicums at a community mental health center, an academic medical center, and The Center for Cognitive Therapy in Philadelphia. He completed his doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Memphis. Dr. Alm did another fellowship specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at The Depression and Anxiety Specialty Clinic, a group practice in Lakeview, and then continued working as a staff psychologist there for 5 years. Most recently, Dr. Alm worked at The Family Institute at Northwestern for 2 years. He has also been a supervisor and lecturer to Ph.D. candidates in clinical psychology at Northwestern University. In addition, Dr. Alm has served as a consultant for clinicians learning Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Amy Edelson, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Amy Edelson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has worked in the mental health field since 2004. Ms. Edelson has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. She received her Masters in Social Work from Loyola University and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Iowa. Ms. Edelson completed her field work at Loyola Medical Center in the Burn Unit and also received training at The Sexual Dysfunction Clinic at Loyola Medical Center with Dr. Domeena Renshaw. In addition, she completed her field work at the Jewish Children’s Bureau, providing intensive therapeutic services for children and teens in foster care. She worked in hospice for 13 years, providing therapy to patients and families. Most recently, Ms. Edelson worked at a private practice in Northbrook.

Jennifer Calliss is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who has worked in the mental health field since 1994 and has been in private practice since 2005. Diane Powell, MBA, LCSW

Diane Powell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has worked in the mental health field since 1991. She has extensive experience working in private practice with both adults and couples. Ms. Powell received her MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and then went on to pursue an MSW from University of Illinois Jane Addams School of Social Work. Diane's clinical internships were in outpatient substance abuse at the Hines VA Hospital and at Perspectives EAP in Chicago. Diane's range of education and experiences allow her to work with a wide variety of issues, from relationship and job challenges to anxiety and depression to life transitions.

Janet Goss, MA, LCPC

Janet Goss is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and has worked in the mental health field since 2003. She has extensive experience working with adolescents, adults and couples. Ms. Goss received her MA in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, from Pepperdine University in California and her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Illinois State University. Janet’s clinical internship was at Southern California Counseling Center working with individual adults and facilitating a variety of therapeutic groups. She also received training experience at Topanga Elementary School and Eating Disorder Center of California. Janet practiced at Family Service of Winnetka-Northfield from 2005-2009 and spent the last 10 years working at a private practice in Gurnee working with adolescents, adults and couples. Faye Minkow, LCSW

Faye Minkow is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has extensive experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families and has worked in the mental health field since 2000. Ms. Minkow received her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois, Urbana. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Illinois University, majoring in Family Social Services and minoring in Sociology. Her clinical internship was at Turning Point outpatient mental health center. Ms. Minkow has had diverse clinical experience throughout her career and for the last nine years engaged in providing psychotherapy at a private practice in Gurnee. Ms. Minkow utilizes a variety of treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
